that defines the use of authority by the leader, from AUTOCRATIC to PARTICIPATING to DELEGATING  and “follower” behavior ranging from REACTIVE to ENERGIZED to PROACTIVE.
The left-hand portion of the continuum focuses on the degree of initiative, confidence, and motivation demonstrated by the follower. Whereas, the right-hand portion of the continuum focuses on the degree of leader generated initiative and willingness to delegate and empower followers.
Think of the continuum as a DEVELOPMENTAL PATHWAY describing leader and follower behavior as they both interact in creating an empowered organization.
